Dinner, Bed and Breakfast in one of Queen Victoria's Commissioned Houses
| Situated just one hundred yards from the entrance to Osborne House, Queen Victoria's favourite family residence and close to the marinas of Cowes and East Cowes, Crossways House, offers quality bed and breakfast accommodation. Originally commissioned by Queen Victoria's Administrator of Sea Cadets for the neighbouring Osborne Naval College, Crossways is said to have housed the future Edward VIII and George VI whilst they attended the College. It is a fine example of late Victorian-early Edwardian architecture and our surveyors tell us that it was built to a very high standard. It remained with the Sea Cadets until the Second World War when it housed the ambulance station for East Cowes. It then passed into private hands and begain it's current life as a guest house. |
